Void Editor
A local-first Markdown studio. Drafts, tags and collections; a command palette instead of a toolbar; your files stay yours.
Voidhelm.dev — the brand house
A house brand for developer tools, built by one engineer to his own taste. Quiet, precise, unhurried.
01 — The name
Not emptiness as nihilism, but potential. Helm is the wheel you take hold of, and the helmet you put on to shut out noise.
Void Helm means taking the helm of the blank page.
02 — The return
The void was never the point. It is where the work starts: one mark, then the next, until the page holds a thought that was not there before. Everything below is what that work ships as.
03 — Ethos
Tools that get out of the way of the person doing the work.
04 — What ships under it
A local-first Markdown studio. Drafts, tags and collections; a command palette instead of a toolbar; your files stay yours.
One brief, several directions. A design surface an agent can drive directly, so the model you already pay for does the generating.
More will follow. The house comes first, the products fit inside it.
05 — The mark
The products ship with eleven themes, so the mark has to sit correctly in all of them. Monochrome is the constraint, not the mood.
01 — Helm ring · the mark
The brand mark. Handles on the outside, nothing at all on the inside: the void sits inside the thing that steers it.
02 — Visor caret
A helmet slit and a text cursor are the same shape: both halves of the name in one form.
03 — Negative page
A page with a circle subtracted, breaking the outline. Page and void share the space; neither wins.
04 — Eclipse caret
An eclipse and a caret. The simplest of the four, and the likeliest to collide with something existing.
06 — Rules the work obeys
What it is not
Print it at twelve millimetres in black on white. If it still reads, it belongs here. If it needs colour, size or gradient to work, it does not.
“A quiet set of tools for people who think in text and move by keyboard.”
